1st Annual “Woofstock” at Overton Park

We had visits from past adoptions and several adoptions today at the 1st Annual Woofstock” at Overton Park. Adopted were Wally, Jolly, Foxy, and Muffin. Alvin, Koda, and Roxy (formerly known as Kip) found new foster homes. Lori is fitting in more and more with her foster parents and new brother.

What a beautiful day in the park…here are some picures from today!

Farmers Market Adoption Day!

A beautiful day at the Downtown Farmers Market Adoption Day.  So many people came by to see all the cute dogs and lots of donations.  We did get Chase adopted and that was a good day.

Here are some photos of the day…including a visit from  “Stanley” and his new family.  Then there are many faces of some of the dogs that need adopting.  See us at “Woofstock” on Sunday, September 28 @ Overton Park from 12:00-5:00.

Chase goes to his forever home

We are so excited to see Chase being adopted into his new forever family. The start of a new chapter in his, and his owners’, lives.

Hollywood Feed in Bartlett Saturday, Sept. 13th

Well, what can I say…things were soooo slow this past Saturday at Hollywood Feed in Bartlett.  I know there were a few other events going on, but they were all in mid-town.  Where were all of you folks?  We had some great dogs available for adoption and fantastic volunteers ready to help you through the process.  Good Dog Rescue did adopt one precious little dog, “Princess Leah”, into a wonderful home.  We did have a couple of serious lookers that filled out applications…so hopefully they will come through and adopt one of our great dogs.  Here are some pictures from our event.

Tupelo Needs a Home!

Tupelo is a sweet little Beagle who needs a forever home.  Think of all the fun he give you…give him lots of running room, some loving,  good food, and a warm place to sleep…this would make him so happy.   He is about 15 pounds, a kind dog to kids and other dogs, enjoys being with people.  Please consider adopting or fostering Tupelo.

Next Good Dog Rescue Adoption Event

Tootsie, the original good dog

Tootsie, the original good dog

Good Dog Rescue has two special adoption events for this coming weekend. On Saturday, September 27, from 8am to 12pm you’ll find us at the Downtown Farmer’s Market in Memphis. We always have a great deal of fun and our dogs and puppies meet great people when we’re there. Hope you can join us! View a map.

On Sunday, September 28, you’ll find us at the final event in Memphis for celebrating Tennessee’s week for the animals. We’ll be at Rainbow Lake in Overton Park from 12pm-5pm. There’ll be lots of fun events, in addition to lots of our great dogs and puppies. We’d love to see you and have you spend some time with us and our dogs. Read more about Tennessee’s week for the animals (and this event) here.

If you are thinking that this is the weekend for you to adopt your new best friend, you may wish to download a Microsoft Word version of our adoption application, complete it, and bring it with you. Step 1 will then be done!

Here are some of our great dogs and puppies who just might be at our events this weekend. Hope to see you there!

Trixie wiggles her way into the Hamptons’ hearts

Trixie, the Boston Terrier/Beagle mix, who arrived into GDR foster care with terribly infected ears, has found her forever home with Leo and Brenda Hampton of Rosemark.  Trixie really has hit the jackpot because Brenda is a stay at home mom and Leo is retired MPD!  Now she can enjoy full-time attention and loving.

Brenda and Leo came to GDR’s Bartlett Petco adoption event, on Saturday, September 6th.  Immediately, they were drawn to Trixie because of her beautiful face and soulful expression.  The fact that she wagged herself silly to greet them was the clincher.

The Hamptons went home to think over their decision and called foster mom Julie on Sunday with a heartfelt, YES WE WANT HER!  What a terrific new beginning for an extra special GOOD DOG! Here is the link to Trixie’s bio:  http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11182505

Adoption Day at Petco Bartlett

Never have I seen so many people out on such a great day….looking for a forever friend.  We had numerous visitors and alot of well wishes.  Several adoptions and many applications were taken.  All the volunteers were kept busy all afternoon.

Our adoptees included Apache and Ally (both very new to our group), Bandit 2 (because, yes, there is a Bandit who’s been with us longer!), and Streudel. These precious dogs went home with some great families to begin living this next chapter of their lives.

We had a visit from one of our formerly adopted dogs, Toby. He came by with his mom – and does he ever have her wrapped around his funny Schnauzer paws!

Next week, Saturday, September 13, 2008, we’re at Hollywood Feed in the Bartlett area (view a map here) from 10am to 1pm. Make plans to drop by and see us if you’re looking for your new best friend … or even if you just want to pet a few of our great dogs and puppies!
