Chief and his Bedtime Story

Chief while fostered by the Tate's

About a year ago, Robin and Marc Tate fostered Good Dog Rescue’s Pekingese/Terrier mix, Chief. An adorable young dog, he required treatment for heartworms when Good Dog Rescue first got him.

Once he had a clean bill of health, Chief was adopted by Traci and David Taylor, from Knoxville, TN. They came by the Tate’s home during the 2008 holiday season and Robin sends this update:

Chief, or Chiefers as his family calls him, was so cute. Dad, David, insisted that Mom, Traci, tell Chiefers his “bedtime story.” Traci had Chiefers’ complete attention as she told him that he was a lost little dog who had a very rough life until Good Dog Rescue found him and rescued him and sent him to live with Robin and Marc. Chiefers heard how he had to have heartworm treatment and how, when he was all better, he got his new mommy and daddy.

Robin reports that the bedtime story, and Chiefers’ reaction to it, was hysterical. David and Traci adore Chief. He plays with a Sheltie now that is his “girlfriend” … and he’s also taking private obedience classes. What a lucky young dog!

It sounds as if Chiefers, David, and Traci are a match made in doggie heaven! Thanks, folks, for adopting one of our great dogs. We hope for as much for all our dogs and puppies we rescue.

JJ (now Barley) sends his Christmas Greetings

JJ was our Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen … a PBGV for short. We had him for a very short time last summer – he was a GREAT hit with everyone who saw him.

He was adopted during our first event at the newly relocated Hollywood Feed Store in Bartlett. His new mom sent us this message, along with a Christmas picture of JJ, who is now Barley, and some of his new family.

Hi! I just wanted to give you an update and picture of JJ. We changed his name to Barley, and he has revitalized our household! He had a wonderful first Christmas, and was treated to a bag of bones. :) I just wanted to say thank you again for letting us take him home. We couldn’t love him more (even Kawaii)!!

From the looks of the picture, Barley has a fabulous new family who loves him very much. All we could expect for a great dog like Barley! Thanks for sending along the story … and make sure to keep us updated.

Lovely and loving Lindsey is looking for her FURever home

Lindsey is a lovely black and white Border Collie mix who has waited a VERY long time to find her forever home. She has lived in a shelter’s outdoor kennel for close to a year. The shelter kept saying she was adopted, when she was merely lost in the shuffle of numerous outside dogs.

This approximately 3 year old young girl appears to have taken it all in stride. She is sweet natured and quiet, weighing 44 lbs. She is spayed, heartworm negative, and appears perfectly housetrained.

Lindsey is in a foster home with 5 other dogs and she fit in fine from the start. Attentive to her person, she is definitely NOT an alpha dog and gets along with young, old, alpha, and odd dogs and puppies in her foster home.

Tentative for her first couple of days, Lindsey is now enjoying running and playing with her foster siblings. She is great at mealtimes. She rarely barks. She is pretty much the perfect dog!

Check out Lindsey’s Glog here.

If you would like to adopt Lindsey, please contact Lisa at ltrenthem@gmail.com or 901-276-7751.
